After the knee-jerk reaction in the polls, the Labor government is suddenly reminded that the trillion dollars it handed over to the wealthiest…
An economic and political commentator claims that since the Covid-19 pandemic hit Aotearoa, the rich have gotten richer and the poor have gotten poorer – in part because of government policies.
…has unfortunate political side effects like all the poor people telling you to fuck off.
So while Labor makes the richest of us 1,000 BILLION DOLLARS RICHERlet’s examine the crumbs with which they bribe us…
Beneficiaries and low-income people can breathe a sigh of relief now that a series of policies putting more money in their pockets have finally arrived.
Effective April 1, benefit rates increase by $20 to $42 per adult per week from July last year, while minimum wage increases from $20 an hour to $21.20, and Working for Families tax credits are also increasing.
Then in May, the Winter Energy Payment returns through October – $20.46 per week for eligible singles with no dependents and $31.82 per week for couples and people with dependent children.
… what is never emphasized in this bullshit propaganda is that these increases struggling to keep up with inflation and for most recipients, MSD claws back the increases, so most will receive a few dollars after MSD takes its share.
The only silver lining is half-price transit because it actually bypasses MSD and puts money straight into people’s pockets without MSD taking its cut.
So work make the richest rich with 1 trillion dollars and the rest of us are given crumbs and told to be grateful.
Is this the best we can hope for?
Norman Kirk said,
“there are four things that matter to people: they must have a place to live, they must have something to eat, they must have clothes to wear and they must have something to look forward to”,
Is that really the best Labor can do in the shadow of those words?
This is an April Fool’s joke from a wellness ad.
