The Newcastle United Blog | Here’s Eddie Howe’s reaction to last night’s big win

It was what every Newcastle fan around the world was hoping for.

A victory last night against an in-form Wolves side, who have won three of their last four games.

And a clean sheet to boot, after last Sunday’s 5-1 disaster at Spurs.

That’s what Eddie Howe said ChronicLive after the game:

“It’s like a big victory for us”

“After the three defeats we suffered away from home, we knew we had to react, especially in the second half against Tottenham.”

“I’m very, very happy with everyone because it was always going to be a very tough game tonight, the way Wolves are playing and the fact that they are a very tough team to break.”

“Those five bodies at the back are defending well for them, so it was always going to be, in my opinion, a game of few chances.”

“But it was just if we could take an opportunity that came our way, and we could defend well enough to deal with their threat, and I think we did that really, really well tonight.”

“I think with the type of game it was against Wolves, it was easy for us to lose form and discipline and bring in too many strikers.”

“I think the discipline and accountability we showed was really good.”

“At this stage of the season it’s all about results. We are well aware that we have to keep scoring points.

“I think those are the performance results right now.”

We can get more wins this season, and we’re sure that’s exactly what Howe wants to do.

Howe won’t rest until the last ball is kicked in Burnley’s final game of the season, something he has told us on several occasions.
