West Seattle Blog… | PANDEMIC UPDATES: Local Registration #28, 01/25/2022

Our weekly look at county and West Seattle numbers from Public Health-Seattle and King County moved to Tuesdays for now, given how often Mondays are off in the winter, so here’s what’s happened since last Tuesday:


*319,373 cases – 30,565 more than our last check a week ago (12,140 total in West Seattle, up 1,299)
*10,645 hospitalizations – 371 over a week ago (305 total from West Seattle, up 13)
* 2,299 people have died – 53 more than the previous update (81 total in West Seattle, up 1)


The number of new cases over the past week countywide was 3/4 the number the previous week…the number of new hospitalizations was also down…the death toll was slightly higher…West’s case Seattle hospitalizations and death increases were all lower than the previous week.


83.1% of King County residents age 5 and older have completed their immunization series, up 0.3% from a week ago.

By West Seattle ZIP Code – note that these numbers are NOT available as 5+, so they reflect the percentage of the population 12 and older:
98106 – 89.2% of streaks completed (of which 54.7% were boosted)
98116 – 92.1% of streaks completed (67.1% of them boosted)
98126 – 83.8% of streaks completed (62.3% of them boosted)
98136 – 93.6% of streaks completed (70% of them boosted)
98146 – 84.3% of streaks completed (of which 51.2% were boosted)

-The sponsored city, UW Medicine-manage the West Seattle test site at Nino Cantu Southwest Sports Complex (2801 SW Thistle) is open Monday through Saturday, limiting testing to symptomatic and exposed people. Appointment can be done here (if you find an opening).

Curative continues to operate two West Seattle test sites – at Don Armeni boat ramp (1222 Harbor SW) and at Summit Atlas School (9601 35th SW)

For Seattle Public Schools students, staff, and families, a walk-in testing site is open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays at Denny International Middle School (2601 SW Kenyon).


The city-run vaccination center in High Point Neighborhood House (6400 Sylvan Way SW) continues operations Friday and Saturday; hereis where to look for an appointment. SoftThe next Sunday clinic (same location) is this weekend (January 30).
