‘Act now’ flood alert for the River Ribble in Samlesbury

People are being urged to ‘act now’ as land near Samlesbury is set to be flooded.

Levels are expected to rise on the Ribble River due to heavy rain.

A flood alert on the Government’s Flood Control Service says the lowlands are expected to be worst affected, particularly around Brockholes Nature Reserve and Lower Brockholes Quarry, from 8.15am today (Sunday February 20).

Another warning tells people to ‘prepare’ for possible flooding as levels rise on the River Darwen in Preston, Walton-Le-Dale and Higher Walton from 6.30am today.

Further rainfall is forecast throughout Sunday and river levels are expected to remain high.
