Against all odds, Suzuki Swift posts excellent sales figures

Although the automotive industry is going through a crisis, sales are weak and production is facing a number of problems. Previously, COVID-19 hampered production and sales; now, the non-issuance of letters of credit (LC) from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is the main problem for the automotive industry.

Although month-over-month sales figures rose slightly, by 21% to be precise, the year-over-year figure fell 36% as auto sales hit 13,369 units against 21,024 units in the corresponding period last year. .

Suzuki Swift against the current

The newly launched Suzuki Swift swimming against the tide right now, as the sedan performs exceptionally well, especially on the year-over-year sales comparison. During the same period last year (July-October 2021), Suzuki Pakistan sold only 489 units of Swift, or 122 cars per month on average. In comparison, the company sold 3,466 swifts during the same period (July-October 2022). This means that the company sold 867 units on average per month, which is a massive jump of 610%, a commendable figure.

The possible reason behind these good numbers is that Pakistan got the latest generation Suzuki Swift along with good specs and features. The car has a classy look and excellent safety features, in particular six airbags. Also, the company introduced a limited edition of the car with additional features, namely, rear upper spoiler and center armrest. The car received very good reviews from consumers. The last generation of Swift was not a selling product for the company, but this model was a game changer for Suzuki Pakistan.

Suzuki has dominated the hatchback car segment in Pakistan for almost three decades with its cars like Suzuki Mehran, Alto, Cults and Swift. And local consumers mainly buy these cars because of their prices and size, and it seems that with the new Swift, the company will continue to dominate this category for the time being.
