Arcata investigates a fatal hit-and-run

The Arcata Police Department is looking for anyone who may have witnessed a fatal hit-and-run accident before dawn this morning on Valley West Boulevard.

According to a news release, APD received a 911 call at 5:53 a.m. that a pedestrian was on the roadway in the 500 block of Valley Boulevard West. Emergency personnel responded to find someone on the roadway who “appeared to have been hit by a vehicle”. They were taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, the statement said.

The APD is actively investigating the matter as a hit-and-run and is asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about it to call the department at (707) 822-2426 or its hotline. anonymous tip at (707) 825-2588.

FATAL COLLISION WITH TRAFFIC OFFENSE ON VALLEY WEST BLVD
On 10/26/22 at approximately 5:53 a.m., the Arcata Police Department received a 9-1-1 call for a pedestrian on the roadway in the 5000 block of Valley Boulevard West. Arcata Police, Arcata Fire District and Arcata Ambulance responded and found an injured victim on the roadway who appeared to have been hit by a vehicle.
The victim was transported to Saint-Joseph Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The Arcata Police Department is actively investigating this hit and run and is asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about the collision to call the Arcata Police Department at 707-822-2426 or anonymous tip line at 707-825-2588.
