Afternoon, a fantastic Sunday in terms of weather, we will have to turn our attention to the series of showers and thunderstorms approaching Monday afternoon. Some of them will be strong to severe, so it will be a day to stay on top of the weather!
Clouds remain this evening with a couple of spurious showers as lows hold in the low to mid 60s. We will have some sun through the morning hours on Monday as the first half of the day is quite pleasant! Expect hot, muggy conditions with highs in the low to mid 80s. By early afternoon, however, these puffy cumulus clouds thicken and we will see showers and thunderstorms develop.
A cool, slippery front in the region on Monday afternoon will trigger a broken line of showers and scattered thunderstorms. Again, some of these will be strong to severe – damaging gusts of wind, hail and even an isolated tornado (although the tornado threat is very low, it’s still not zero) are all possibilities.
Expect scattered showers to develop after 1pm and then take us into sunset before the remnants of rain abate. Skies clear up fairly quickly overnight into Tuesday, and with plenty of sunshine on the way and low humidity levels, Tuesday will arguably be the best day of the week.
Will it rain from start to finish on Monday? No, but that’s more of a reason to pay attention to the weather, as any storms that do develop will do so quickly.
