The Washington Capitals are in Elmont, New York to play their first ever game against the New York Islanders in the brand new UBS Arena.
Shortly before the puck drop, Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan was forced to make a series of roster changes due to COVID-19. Conor Sheary will not fit while John Carlson has been cleared and will play.
Vitek Vanecek will get the start for the Capitals while Semyon Varlamov will start in goal for the Islands.
The game is on NBC Sports Washington.
