Coaching and Discipline Crisis – JoeBucsFan.com

Training and discipline crisis

October 25, 2022

An ESPN TV graphic aired ahead of last night’s Bears-Patriots game.

If you think the Bucs don’t have enough talent to be an average attack on 3rd and long or a decent red zone defense at midfield, then stop reading this post.

Joe will raise a frosted glass of Big Storm Beer in your honor and praise everything that allows you not to be terribly disturbed or surprised by what has happened on the ground for the past two weeks.

Joe, however, thinks the Bucs have terribly underperformed in some areas. And that largely speaks to the fact that coaching doesn’t scale.

The graphic above was on ESPN TV yesterday and it’s true Halloween horror. The Bucs are the worst team in the NFL when they’re 3rd and 7th or higher, converting just nine percent of the time. Shit, what’s the conversion rate of a hit from Hail Mary? Four percent??

And Tampa Bay’s red zone defense is downright soft.

Joe realizes that some fans blame the players, and they certainly bear some responsibility. But team chess (and there are others) is about discipline and coaching.

How is a defense with Devin White, Lavonte David, Vita Vea, Shaq Barrett, Antoine Winfield, Jr., Carlton Davis and Jamel Dean. among other things, encircling the drain in the red zone?
