Friday Blog: Big weekend break and preview of our next system. -Doug

We’re almost through another work week and heading into Super Bowl weekend. Even if the Chiefs are not there, at least for the first time in three years, I have no worries about the game. I would like to see the Bengals win.

A cold front will arrive on Friday, but temperatures still look quite good. There will be breezes behind the front with northerly winds at 10-20 mph.

Becoming much colder Friday evening as we drop into the lower 20s.

Friday night

We could have a few random showers but the sun comes back on Saturday, but we remain cold.

Saturday

Still chilly on Sunday but back into the 50’s for Valentine’s Day. 60s by Tuesday and Wednesday with a few showers rolling out late Wednesday. Showers and thunderstorms increase Wednesday evening and Thursday. Some of these storms could be strong, but I don’t expect them to be severe, but something I will watch for.

Thusday

We have pretty good potential to see heavy rain from this system. In the Heady Pattern, this is the system we saw on December 15th. Two cycles ago was back on October 12. Both times this system has been a very good rain generator for us. We might see some snow out back but I think for now most of the snow will remain just north of the area but something to watch out for.

Late Thursday

The long term forecast is below.

-Doug

Friday and next Saturday: Cold with a very slight chance of rain or snow by Saturday. However, I think this system will remain mostly to our south.

February 20-26: Warming back with the risk of thunderstorms on Tuesday and rain on Wednesday. Temperatures remain quite pleasant the rest of the week with a slight chance of rain over the weekend.

February 27-March 5: A mild start to the week with the chance of rain really increasing mid-week. Becoming colder on Thursday with a chance of rain or snow and staying cool through the weekend.

March 6-12: Chance of rain and snow Sunday and Monday. Then much colder the rest of the week. Chance of rain or snow returning by Friday.

March 13-19: A cool start but most of the week will be mild. Chances of thunderstorms increasing through the weekend.
