Funday Sunday: Labor Day Edition

Robert Reich: Corporate Lies About Unions (4 minutes):

Well, once a year America takes its hat off to work. The rest of the year, they’re pretty much ignored except to bitch about them. This year, labor in general received some increases due to labor shortages as a commodity. It kind of backfired as inflation set in, Labor was to blame, most mistakenly think.

Yet the Federal Reserve is on a mission to raise interest rates which will slow borrowing which will slow expansion which will reduce the need for labor because increases in labor are what caused inflation. This is their mistaken thinking. Could there be shortages due to Russia’s war on Ukraine or companies raising prices for massive profits, right?

Still, at this point, things are looking pretty good for those looking for work, and wages continue to rise. Union activity is on the rise, but still not strong. Unions have 71% approval right now. Maybe people are finally remembering that it’s the work that really makes the building.
