How to Remix Any Video on Instagram (Not Just Reels)

Instagram is expanding its Remix feature, allowing you to respond to any video on the social media platform with your own video.

Instagram launched Remixes for Reels in March last year. A bit like on TikTok Duo Functionality, Remix lets you take an existing reel and then record a video or voiceover as a response. Duet has been an integral part of TikTok for years, and users love the platform’s collaborative community feel. Instagram is now bringing the Remix feature to all videos on Instagram, allowing creators to reply and collaborate with anyone, to be discovered by new audiences. It’s part of Instagram’s growing efforts to bring video in all its forms to the social media platform.

The feature still appears to be rolling out. To remix any video (once you’ve received the update), just tap the three dots next to a video, then tap Remix this video.

Remix is available on all public videos released after the launch of this feature. Previously posted videos will not be affected. To allow or disable remixes, tap the three dots next to the video and choose Allow remixing Where Disable Remix.

To disable remixing on all your reels or stream videos, tap the three lines in the top right corner of your profile, Settings, Private life, Reels and remixesthen flip one of the switches.
