Live blog about the best Black Friday laptop deals: Apple, HP, Asus, Dell, and more

Now that’s a MacBook Air deal that I (Roland Moore-Colyer) can personally recommend. It’s because I have the Macbook Air M2, and I like it; it may even be my gadget of the year.

Sure, the display notch is a bit odd, but in use you won’t notice it much. And this M2 chip is so fast. But even more impressive is the battery life – the new MacBook Air got me through the whole of IFA 2022 with essentially a single charge. It also works well with some games and the display is simply stunning.

While I prefer a little snappier keyboard feedback, like what a Surface laptop will offer, the MacBook Air M2 is still a great do-it-all machine. And with $150 off, I really recommend you consider it if you’re looking for a new laptop.

Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook Deal

At this moment the The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook is just $299 on Amazon (opens in a new tab). This 13 inch 2-in-1 convertible laptop may not be on our best chromebooks list, but it’s a bargain. Plus, with an 11th Gen i3 processor and 8GB of RAM, it can handle almost any productivity task you throw at it.

The suite of features you get with the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook is hard to beat. Instead of an underpowered mobile processor, you get an 11th Gen Intel Core i3 chip. Add the 8GB and 128GB SSDs and you’ve got a pretty decent spec sheet on a sub-$300 machine.

Oh, and did we mention that this 2.98-pound device can turn into a tablet? It’s definitely one of the highlights of this versatile Chromebook and I love it. I have the Acer Chromebook Spin 713 and I love the ability to turn my Chromebook into a tablet. The touchscreen even offers stylus support (although you have to buy it separately).

Chromebooks are known for their long battery life, and this model shouldn’t disappoint. Lenovo rates the IdeaPad Flex 5i for 10 hours of battery life, so you should be able to get through most of the day on a charge.

Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360

I recently wrote an op-ed about how the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 was my favorite laptop of the year. For that reason, I’m glad to see this awesome 2-in-1 is now on sale during Black Friday.

Best Buy is selling the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 for $1,149, up from $1,649. This configuration includes a 15.6-inch FHD AMOLED display, 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of SSD storage. If you want an ultra-slim laptop that can handle all your daily computing tasks, this is a deal you can’t miss!

MacBook Pro M1 with a Tom's Guide offer tag

Amazon has the 13-inch (256GB) MacBook Pro on sale for $799. That’s the lowest price we’ve ever seen for this laptop.

The MacBook Pro with Apple’s M1 chip offers performance that runs around Windows laptops, and you get a brighter screen than the MacBook Air M1 and more powerful 8-core graphics. Best of all, the system lasted over 16 hours on our battery test. It’s no longer Apple’s flagship, but a $799 MacBook Pro is about as rare as it gets.

Razer Blade 14 with overlaid offer tag

Right now you can get a new Razer Blade 14 for $1,999 at Amazon (opens in a new tab)(opens in a new tab). That’s a hefty $800 on a beefy configuration of this 14-inch gaming laptop that comes with an AMD Ryzen 9 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 laptop graphics card.

This model also comes with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD for storage. It should be powerful enough to play many great PC games, and high frame rates should look great on the laptop’s 14-inch QHD 165Hz display.

In our Razer Blade 14 review, we called this sleek, powerful, and expensive gaming laptop, making it a great machine to buy on sale. While it has the usual gaming laptop headaches (it gets hot and doesn’t last long on battery power), this 14-inch powerhouse is undeniably ideal for gaming on the go.

HP Pavilion x360 with offer tag

Right now you can get the HP Pavilion x360 for $499 at Best Buy (opens in a new tab). The Pavilion’s 2-in-1 design means you can eliminate your need for a tablet and laptop in one device. Plus, with a 12th Gen Intel Core i5 processor and 8GB of RAM, this 14-inch laptop can handle much of what you throw at it. It’s hard to beat for under $500.

Other highlights of the HP Pavilion x360 include a 14-inch edge-to-edge display, Bang & Olufsen speakers, and fast Wi-Fi 6E connectivity. And the sharp 5MP webcam will come in handy for video calls.

Of course, one of the main features of this laptop is the 2-in-1 design that allows you to convert the Pavilion x360 into a tablet when reading emails or watching. netflix.

Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3

Right now, you can pick up the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 for $599 on Amazon. Now that’s $300 off its original cost of $899, this budget laptop is even more affordable than ever. It might not have the best specs of the best gaming laptops, but it should be powerful enough to handle some of the best PC games.

This Lenovo machine has a large 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display, AMD Ryzen 5 5600H processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU, 8GB of DDR4 RAM and a 256 GB SSD. It also comes with Windows 11 Pre installed.

As we said up top, this isn’t exactly the most impressive gaming laptop in terms of specs. But considering how this laptop has a maximum resolution of 1080p, you don’t necessarily need a high-end Nvidia RTX 30-series mobile GPU to get 4K resolution. 8GB of RAM isn’t that exciting either; if you play games on medium or low settings, this should suffice.

Surface Pro 8

If you’re looking for a new Windows 11 laptop, you could do a lot worse than the Microsoft Surface Pro 8, a Microsoft-designed Windows tablet that doubles as a decent laptop if you attach the keyboard cover ( optional).

Right now, Best Buy is still running a great deal that knocks $450 off the price of a new Microsoft Surface Pro 8. You can get one for just $899, which is a fair discount off the usual price of $1,349. It’s also a great tablet, with a vibrant 13-inch touchscreen and an excellent webcam. Although the 11th Gen Intel processor inside isn’t quite as fast as the latest 12th Gen chips inside the new Surface Pro 9, it’s still plenty powerful for everyday work. Don’t miss this chance to get one at a great price!

HP Chromebooks

Looking for a good laptop under $100? The 11.6-inch HP Chromebook is the perfect choice, whether you’re planning to give that gift to someone or buying it for your child or an older relative. It may not appear on our best laptops page but with decent specs, this Chromebook is great for browsing the internet and it will handle basic tasks well.

The HP Chromebook comes with an 11.6-inch display (1366 x 768 pixels), an AMD A4 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of eMMC storage. Right now, Walmart is selling it for $79, down from its regular price of $98, which is a good price for this basic Chromebook.

Apple laptops are always hot items during Black Friday. This year is no exception, so it would be good to pick up one of the company’s high-end laptops before they sell out, like the one we’re highlighting here.

At this moment the The 14-inch MacBook Pro (M1 Pro/512GB) is $1,599 at Best Buy (opens in a new tab). The 2021 MacBook Pro sports Apple’s M1 Pro processor, which offers 8 more GPU cores, a better media engine and more memory bandwidth than the already fast M1 chip. It’s also Apple’s first 14-inch MacBook Pro to feature a 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED display with 3024 x 1984 resolution. 512GB. You also get three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI port, an SDXC card slot, and a MagSafe 3 port.

In our Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch (2021) review, we were seriously impressed with what this device had to offer. It has pretty much everything you could want in a laptop; including incredible performance, a beautiful 14-inch screen, and battery life that lasted over 14 hours in our tests.
