After taking two weeks to dig into the four proposals and community feedback, the Wausau Economic Development Committee could decide between four different low-income or affordable housing proposals at 700 Grand Avenue on Monday.
The committee passed over an hour earlier this month I heard visions for the one acre plot from Commonwealth Development, General Capital, Horizon Development Corp and Gorman and Company. All four proposals called for at least 50 units with parking and other amenities. Most call for on-site management. Gorman and Company’s proposal consists of housing for the elderly; Horizon Development Corp would include eight units at market rates and the rest at affordable rates.
This all happened at their regular meeting on October 4th. Following the presentations and an in camera discussion, the committee chose to table the file to obtain more comments from the residents and to have more time to digest the proposals.
Another closed-door discussion is also scheduled for this evening, along with possible actions.
Tonight’s meeting starts at 5:15 p.m. at the town hall
