Post-match verdict: Eiran Cashin v Ipswich Town (A) – Blog

Derby County suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Ipswich Town on Friday night.

Wes Burns scored the game’s only goal in the second half of the Sky Bet League One match as the hosts picked up all three points.

Rams defender Eiran Cashin caught up Rams TV after full time to give his verdict on what turned out to be a frustrating night against the Tractor Boys.

On performance…

We are disappointed. I think we were good in possession, but in possession we could have been better.

We defended well for most of the game and a small mistake cost us but I don’t think we need to blame ourselves. We have a lot of matches to come, so we have to get rid of them and prepare for the next one.

On the atmosphere in the locker room following the defeat…

We are disappointed to have lost and disappointed that in possession of the ball we could have been better. Our decision-making could have been better but we still have to be positive. The guys in there are disappointed but we know with the big picture and we can brush our teeth and go on Tuesday.

On the positives of tonight…

Ipswich are a good team and the fact that they have so few clean chances is due to what we did without possession.

We are disappointed with the goal, but we put our bodies on the line and we left home in a difficult place and we prevented them from playing as they wanted and we limited their chances.

Sometimes it overflowed and the fact that we worked so hard for possession meant we weren’t paying attention to possession. This is something we need to look at.

On the speed of execution…

Sometimes it’s the best thing when you just have to go back. Dust yourself off, collect yourself and go again. Hopefully we can get back to winning ways at home next week and organize a race together.

On the traveling support…

It’s really unbelievable. From the first whistle, they continued and stimulated us. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get the win for them, but we’ll just have to fix that on Tuesday.
