Shazam sequel hits theaters in 2022

DC fans were left heartbroken when they discovered Warner Brothers’ revised 2020 Superhero Blockbuster movie slate. Warner Bros said DC League and Black Adam were delayed to release later in 2022, but Aquaman, The Flash and The Lost Kingdom were sent to 2023.

But among this quirky program, there is good news for DC fans, the long-awaited Shazam! its schedule has been brought forward and will be screened on December 12, 2022, instead of its previous schedule which was set for June 2023.

Shazam Fury of the Gods

With Shazam’s release date, fans were reassured that Warner Bros. had something unique to spotlight with the Shazam Family film.

“We are delighted to bring ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ to the public as a Christmas present this year,” said WB President of National Casting Jeff Goldstein, adding that “families of all ages will really appreciate it.”

Fans can’t contain their excitement because of what Steven Weintraub said last year and how he hoped the sequel would come out soon!

“I will say that I’m sincerely – and it’s not just paying lip service – I’m proud of the first one, I think we made a really, really good movie. I think the second is better. I think we had more time, we had more budget. We had, basically, the whole cast coming back, and we all got to know our characters a little bit more; we could kind of sit there a little more. Henry Gayden, who wrote the first screenplay, wrote the second, and he did a fantastic job doing it. Everything just clicked, even a little more and a little more. And also the kids have grown a bit more, so even their sensibilities are getting a bit more mature still, which brings them closer to my adult mind or other people’s, so there’s even more connection there, I think. The action is great, the comedy is great, the relationships are great. The villains, Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu are fantastic. I’m very proud of it. I want it out before June 2023.”

What does the Shazam franchise have in store for us?

The work of director will again be provided by David F. Sandberg. We also see the return of writer Henry Gayden giving fans more news to keep them excited.

To keep fans guessing and intrigued, a short behind-the-scenes clip was shown at DCFanDome in 2021, this revealed the “realm of the gods” and how the sequel will focus on a fight against evil gods.

As for the cast members, we also see that Zachary Levi and Asher Angel have also returned to the sets as Shazam’s superhero extraordinaire and human equal.

The newest member added to this cast is Rachel Zegler whose role has yet to be made public and has kept fans a mystery.

As we are nine months away from Shazam’s release date, we can anticipate a trailer and poster soon!!

We are well aware that the December release was magical for Aquaman, we hope that Shazam Fury of the Gods has the same fate!!
