The only hope to counter global warming are AI machines that can do miraculous things at atomic levels, the next generation of quantum computing and AI could become gods in essential machines…
DeepMind scientists say they trained an AI to control a nuclear fusion reactor
- The London-based AI lab, which is owned by Alphabet, announced on Wednesday that it had trained an AI system to control and sculpt superheated plasma inside a nuclear fusion reactor.
- Nuclear fusion, a process that powers stars in the universe, involves the crushing and fusing of hydrogen, which is a common element of seawater.
- DeepMind said the breakthrough, published in the journal Nature, could open up new avenues for advancing nuclear fusion research.
… the rise of AI quickly lead to Super Intelligence...
Our own experience makes us stubborn old men facing the future. We base our ideas about the world on our personal experience, and that experience has ingrained the growth rate of the recent past in our heads as “the way things are.” We are also limited by our imagination, which takes our experience and uses it to conjure up future predictions, but often what we know just doesn’t give us the tools to think accurately about the future. When we hear a prediction about the future that contradicts our experience-based notion of how things work, our instinct is that the prediction must be naïve. If I tell you, later in this article, that you can live to be 150 or 250, or not die at all, your instinct will be, “That’s stupid, if there’s one thing I know of history is that everyone dies. “And yes, no one in the past has died. But no one flew airplanes before airplanes were invented either.
So while nahhhhh might seem right when you read this article, it’s probably wrong. The point is, if we are really logical and expect historical patterns to continue, we should conclude that much, much, much more is set to change in the coming decades than we intuitively expect. Logic also suggests that if the most advanced species on a planet continues to take bigger and bigger leaps at a faster and faster rate, at some point it will make a jump so big that it will alter completely life as they know it and their perception of what it means to be human – much like how evolution continued to make great leaps in intelligence until ‘she finally took such a big leap towards being human that she completely changed what it meant for any creature to live on planet Earth. And if you spend any time reading about what’s happening in science and technology today, you start to see a lot of signs quietly suggesting that life as we know it now cannot withstand the jump coming.
…the ability to build machines capable of performing miracles through super intelligence is a reality that can be benign or induce an apocalypse.
