Tuesday blog: thunderstorms back in the forecast. -Doug

Hope you had a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend. The weather was fantastic! It was a bit windy but overall it turned out to be a great 3 day weekend. But of course more thunderstorms are back in the forecast. In the morning, most thunderstorms will still be in our northern counties. But some of our northern counties will be cut off by thunderstorms.

Another hot and windy day for us with highs into the mid 80’s.

Mid afternoon

As a cold front arrives during the evening hours, we will have scattered thunderstorms from north central OK, SE KS and into west central MO. These will be scattered and I don’t expect a line of thunderstorms. However, some of them could be strong to severe in the evening and at night.

serious threat

We will have to go for high threat on SE KS. I expect these storms to weaken significantly as they enter SW MO, which is why I have a much lower threat. Scattered thunderstorms continue to occur during the evening hours. Again, these will be scattered with the highest chance in SE KS.

Tuesday evening

Scattered thunderstorms continue through Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. I think we will see a break and then another round late Wednesday morning and this afternoon. These could be strong but don’t expect serious.

Wednesday

We will most likely see a group on Wednesday evening with us finally dry Thursday morning. However, 1-3″ of rain is very possible. The long term forecast is below.

June 19-25: A mostly hot week with scattered thunderstorms on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

June 26-July 2: A hot to hot week with scattered thunderstorms Sunday and Monday, then again Friday and Saturday.
