West Seattle Blog… | CORONAVIRUS: Here’s where the numbers stand for West Seattle, King County

At the end of the weekend, here is our regular Sunday evening check of the local COVID numbers of the Public Health – Seattle/King County dashboard:

*17% fewer cases across the county last week than the week before
* Currently averaging 631 daily new cases countywide (compared to 758 when we checked a week ago)

*12% fewer hospitalizations across the county in the last week thab the previous week
* Currently averaging 14 new hospitalizations per day (compared to 16 a week ago)

*23% fewer deaths across the county in the last two weeks than the previous two weeks (dashboard does not offer a one-week increment)
* Currently averaging 2 deaths per day (down from last week’s two-week average of 3)

For West Seattle, we have two-week comparisons (these are the combined totals of two “health reporting areas”, called West Seattle and Delridge, together comprising the entire peninsula):
*555 cases between 07/18 and 08/01, compared to 668 between 07/03 and 07/17
*6 hospitalizations between 07/18 and 08/01, compared to 18 between 07/03 and 07/17
*1 death between 18/07 and 01/08, against 4 between 03/07 and 17/07

VACCINATION: Verification vaccination rate:
* 82% of all King County residents have completed the initial series (up 0.2% from a week ago)
* 86.6% of all King County residents ages 5 and older completed the initial series (up 0.1% from a week ago)
* 51.9% of all King County residents had the initial set plus a booster (up 0.1% from a week ago)

*In West Seattle, here are the vaccination rates by zip code for ages 5 and up (reminder, 98106 and 98146 are not entirely in WS):
98106 – 88.9% completed the initial series (up 0.1% from the previous week), 56% had a recall (up 0.2%)
98116 – 93.7% completed the initial series (unchanged from a week earlier), 68.2% had a recall (+0.2%)
98126 – 84.5% completed the initial series (unchanged from the previous week), 58.1% had a recall (up 0.1%)
98136 – 94.5% completed the initial set (up 0.1% from the previous week), 71.3% had a booster (up 0.2%)
98146 – 83.7% completed the initial series (unchanged from a week earlier), 50.3% had a recall (+0.1%)
