West Seattle Blog… | CORONAVIRUS: New West Seattle, county-wide numbers and trends

Here’s our regular Sunday night check of local numbers from Public Health – Seattle/King County COVID Dashboard:

*17% fewer cases across the county last week than the week before
* Currently averaging 878 daily new cases countywide (compared to 1,052 when we checked a week ago)

*13% fewer hospitalizations across the county in the last week thab the previous week
* Currently averaging 17 new hospitalizations per day (compared to 19 a week ago)

*20% fewer deaths across the county in the last two weeks than the previous two weeks (dashboard does not offer a one-week increment)
* Currently averaging 3 deaths per day (same as last week’s two-week average)

For West Seattle, we have two-week comparisons (these are the combined totals of two “health reporting areas”, called West Seattle and Delridge, together comprising the entire peninsula):
*712 cases between 04/07 and 07/18, compared to 759 between 06/19 and 07/03
*18 hospitalizations between 4/7 and 18/7, compared to 12 between 19/6 and 3/7
*2 deaths between 04/07 and 18/07, against 23 between 19/06 and 03/07

VACCINATION: Verification vaccination rate:
*81.7% of all King County residents have completed the initial series (up 0.1% from a week ago)
* 86.5% of all King County residents ages 5 and older completed the initial series (up 0.1% from a week ago)
* 51.6% of all King County residents had the initial set plus a booster (up 0.2% from a week ago)

*In West Seattle, here are the vaccination rates by zip code for ages 5 and up (reminder, 98106 and 98146 are not entirely in WS):
98106 – 88.8% completed the initial series (unchanged from the previous week), 55.7% had a recall (+0.2%)
98116 – 93.6% completed the initial series (unchanged from a week earlier), 67.9% had a recall (+0.1%)
98126 – 84.3% completed the initial series (unchanged from the previous week), 57.8% had a recall (+ 0.2%)
98136 – 94.4% completed the initial set (up 0.1% from the previous week), 70.9% had a booster (up 0.2%)
98146 – 83.7% completed the initial set (up 0.1% from the previous week), 50% had a recall (up 0.1%)
