Airline inventory roundup: AAL, JBLU and more
Last week, Azul announced a larger-than-expected loss per share for the fourth quarter of 2021. However, revenue not only exceeded Zacks’ consensus estimate, but also improved more than 100% year over year. on the other, thanks to the improvement in demand for air travel in Brazil. Total revenue of $668.4 million beat Zacks’ consensus estimate of $628.7 million and was up more than 100% year-over-year as demand for online travel plane was improving, thanks to widespread vaccination programs in Brazil.
With more and more people taking flight, Azul’s passenger revenue, which accounts for 91% of revenue, soared more than 100% year-over-year. Freight and other revenue jumped 30.8% year-over-year, driven primarily by upbeat demand for Azul’s logistics solutions. Consolidated traffic, measured in revenue passenger kilometers (RPK), increased 49.2% (up 46.9% domestic and 83.1% international) year-on-year other.
Consolidated available seat kilometers (ASK), which measures an airline’s passenger carrying capacity, were up 46.5% compared to the same period last year, with an increase of 48.6% international capacity. The same increased by 46.3% on the home front. Because the increase in traffic was less than the amount of capacity expansion, the load factor (percentage of seats filled with passengers) improved by 1.5 percentage points to 82.2%.

2. With Boeing likely to deliver only 10,787 Dreamliner planes to American Airlines in 2022 due to production issues from the original plan of 13, AAL is delaying service launch, temporarily suspending some flights and reducing frequency of flights. flights on a route.

Service from Puerto Vallarta, which began Feb. 19, will operate four times a week. Puerto Vallarta is the third destination served by JetBlue in Mexico.

4. Due to strong demand for air travel in the United States, Spirit Airlines reportedly plans to launch nonstop seasonal flights this summer between Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport and Myrtle Beach, SC. The flights will operate from May 27. Initially, they will operate on Fridays and Mondays. However, starting June 17, the service that will operate over the Labor Day weekend will be available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Clearly, Myrtle Beach is SAVE’s ninth nonstop destination from Milwaukee.
